Brooklynite Reviews
Some Nice and Some Not-So-Nice
Charles Isherwood (New York Times): a "goofily endearing new musical"
Mark Kennedy (AP): "the irresistible new musical" "Ann Harada lends the show her manic, quirky energy."
Alexis Soloski (The Guardian): "Cordero, the bullseye of Bullets Over Broadway, is delightful here, as is the veteran Ann Harada in a number of small roles."
Michael Dale (BroadwayWorld): "The always funny Ann Harada may be underutilized in her multiple roles, but she adds great comic flair...a solid evening of laughs."
Roma Torre (NY1): "a dynamite production...The cast is first rate with veterans Ann Harada and Tom Alan Robbins doing their zany thing."
Elisabeth Vincentelli (New York Post): "this goofy superhero tale has a rambunctious, puppylike energy that makes it hard to dislike"
Matthew Murray (Talkin' Broadway): "the show embraces its nature so fully and so openly that its limited reach and limited accomplishments hardly matter at all"
Adam Feldman (Time Out New York): "it's basically a throwback to the goofy-campy Batman TV series..Brooklynite is bright but insubstantial: all cape, no powers. Mayer’s production at the Vineyard is boosted, though, by a very appealing cast"
Joe Dziemianowicz (New York Daily News): "the musical-theater equivalent of locavore dining — and that’s fun. Ditto the energetic cast. If only the show exerted a superpowerful magnetic field"
Frank Scheck (Hollywood Reporter): "Comic book culture has completely taken over the movies. Must it have the theater as well?"
Marilyn Stasio (Variety): "There's not much to Brooklynite"
